COMING HOME by tom jensen From the first moment I picked up my pen To write her a poem I was never the same My passion keeps on Calling out her name As I became changed Forever by a single day This light of another morning's dawn To me is a fresh page of my life's book Since I've been searching for so long I've only got a few places left to look Have you seen her? The one with the sparkles of diamonds in her eyes? She's got a heart of gold Rock n' Roll deep inside her soul and a tongue that never lies Yes I saw her once But I let her slip away Her picture's worth one million words So there's a lot more I could say I've sketched her into memory Until we shall meet again As I watch her delicate footprints Tiptoe across my mind's eye lense Since time heals... whatever life deals I never get upset and still feel no regret Will we find ourselves together... will things get better? Yes, my guess is that I'd take that bet Yeah, because I've been waiting for my baby Longer, much lon! ger, than anybody should Someday the girl who used to tell me, "Maybe" I'll say, "Well at least now I knew she would" Then whenever I get lonely And my mind begins to roam I'll be thinking of how much I love her And how long it will be before I come home
